How to play

Readers meeting a new class · 15–20 minutes

Choose prompts that fit

Read the prompts before printing. Replace anything your class would find difficult or uncomfortable. Print one card per student; everyone starts with the center marked.

Meet a classmate

Students ask a question from a square, listen to the answer, and write the matching classmate’s first name in that square. Agree whether each name may appear once or twice on a card. Passing on a question is always allowed.

Share a discovery

A row, column, or diagonal completes bingo. Let players finish their conversation before announcing it. At the end, invite volunteers to introduce a classmate and something they learned.

For a short session or emerging readers, choose a 3 × 3 grid and read the prompts together.
For a seated version, invite pairs to talk and rotate partners instead of asking everyone to move around.

Before you print

Does this game need a caller?

No. Students find people who match their prompts. The optional item list is for the teacher’s reference, not a list to draw at random.

Can I use names more than once?

Choose that rule before starting. Allowing two squares per classmate helps small classes; limiting each name to one square encourages more introductions.

How do I save my cards as a PDF?

Use Print / Save PDF, then choose Save as PDF in your browser’s print dialog. Choose A4 or US Letter in the editor first, and turn off browser headers and footers. Reloading or leaving this page clears your edits, so save your PDF before you go.
