How to play

Readers learning animal names · 5–15 minutes

01

Pick the animals

Read through the 32 names and replace any your learners have not encountered. Use a smaller list for a focused lesson while keeping enough distinct words for the chosen grid.

02

Prepare the cards

Print one card per player with the optional item list. Cut the item list into slips and mix them. Give everyone a pencil or reusable counters.

03

Call and compare

Draw and say an animal name, then let players mark it. For a clue-based round, make the clues specific enough to identify one animal in your list. Check a winning row, column, or diagonal against the slips drawn.

Before you print

Can I make a farm-animal-only set?

Yes. Replace the list with at least eight distinct farm animals for a 3 × 3 grid with a free center, or nine without one.

Do the cards repeat?

Layouts differ within a generated batch. With a small word pool, the same animals can appear on many cards in different positions.

How do I save my cards as a PDF?

Use Print / Save PDF, then choose Save as PDF in your browser’s print dialog. Choose A4 or US Letter in the editor first, and turn off browser headers and footers. Reloading or leaving this page clears your edits, so save your PDF before you go.
